Dunedin Law Courts Seismic Strengthening Project

Dunedin Law Courts is one of the most prestigious buildings in the Ministry of Justice Portfolio. Constructed between 1900 and 1902 the building is an Historic Places Category 1 listed building with NZ Heritage.
Following the Canterbury Earthquakes a seismic assessment determined that critical components of the building presented a high hazard to building occupants in a “moderate earthquake”.
Following an extensive design construction works got underway in 2016.
Works included various strengthening to the tower, foundations, unreinforced masonry, roof etc.
The project was completed on time, under budget and won multiple awards.
